Mosella refreshes menu

Daytime tapas and evening Josper grill showstoppers are now the order of the day in a refreshed Mediterranean à la carte sharing concept.

Mosella’s new à la carte menu celebrates the Mediterranean culture of sharing and communal dining with a selection of tapas and carb-based staples in grazing portions for light and easy luncheons, while dinner sees hearty sharing plates and wooden platters laden with charcoal-fired meats and seafood — courtesy of the Josper grill, which is the showpiece of the restaurant’s open kitchen.

Atop chunky white bean and potato stew with chorizo are these tender bite-size tentacle slices of chargrilled octopus [$19 (lunch); $36 (dinner)].
A dinner showstopper is the 700g Galician bone-in striploin ($158), cooked medium-rare and served with porcini and beef glace. This Rubia Gallega breed of Spanish cattle is highly prized for its deep beefy flavours.
Topped with mussels and king prawns, the Paella Mariscos [$28 (lunch); $52 (dinner)] features Bomba rice slow-cooked with calamari and prawns in saffron and shellfish stock. A finish on the Josper imparts gentle smoky notes.
Round up the carnivores for the enormous Bandeja (sharing platters), which offers value and variety. Choose between Fuente de Mariscos ($148; a whole roasted branzino, chargrilled octopus, king prawns, mussels and king crab legs) or Fuente de Carne ($238; a whole spatchcock chicken, suckling pig, lamb chops and Bass Strait beef bone-in prime rib).
The soft Basque butter cake crowned with strawberry gelée and dressed tableside with warm sherry cream is available for lunch as Basque Bite ($12). You will see it in the dinner menu as Strawberry & Sherry ($18).
The Churro Rosette [$11 (lunch); $16 (dinner)] is piped and fried upon order. A smoked vanilla dulce sauce offers a dunk to lend this Spanish dessert an extra oomph.

Several dishes feature on both lunch and dinner menus but they differ in their serving sizes to suit the different social settings.

The new menu is available daily except during Saturday’s à la carte-style brunch ($128 per adult; 12:30pm to 3pm) where you can indulge in Mediterranean offerings from the brunch menu as well as the à la minute live stations.
