Without hopping on a plane, the global bar hop begins on October 3 at Torno Subito with Holly Graham of Tokyo Confidential concocting what she does best in the bar she founded in Japan. Joining this Bar World’s 100 Most Influential Figures of 2023 (she was number 9 in the list) is Jon Lee from Penrose in Kuala Lumpur, ranked as one of Malaysia’s best bars. Also behind the bar counter for the first night is Millie Tang, the two-time Australian bartender of the year, who’s now based at bar De Vie, which opened to much anticipation in September this year in Paris.
The second night (October 4) sees Chanel Adams of The Bamboo Bar in Bangkok blending Thai ingredients with modern techniques to offer an innovative cocktail experience. Together with her is Kiki Moka of The Cocktail Club, who is one of Indonesia’s top bartenders considered to be the ‘rock star’ of Jakarta’s bar scene. Completing the line-up is fellow countryman Agung Prabowo, who is behind a string of award-winning bars in Hong Kong and is best known as co-founder of Penicillin these days.
The cocktail event is presented by pan-Asian craft spirits house The Orientalist Spirits. The doors open 9pm till late with DJs from Singapore, Hong Kong and Berlin spinning through the night. Entry at $120 per night includes four cocktails and one bar snack created exclusively by chef Alessio Pirozzi, featuring focaccina with olives and tomatoes, swordfish tataki with chive sauce, tortellino with Parmigiano Reggiano, and mini diavola pizza with spicy salami.
