Speciality umeshu store Umeshuya (梅酒屋) from Japan is showcasing some 30 specially selected fruit liqueurs from all over Japan with a limited-time boutique outlet located at the Food Hall section in Basement 2 of Takashimaya Shopping Centre till the end of November. Online delivery service for multiple bottles is also available via this link.
Established in Osaka in 1935, this is the Japanese fruits liquor brand’s first boutique shop in Singapore, which functions as a concept store and showroom.
To celebrate the opening, Umeshuya is collaborating with Ippudo to hold a umeshu tasting event at Ippudo restaurant at Shaw Centre from Sep 21 to 23. For $22.50, you get to enjoy three types of umeshu (choose from 27) with a house-made ume jelly dessert. Each session begins at 7pm and is limited to only 45 seats per evening. Reservations can be made at 6235 2547 or via email.

Carrying a gentle fruity aroma, the Aotan no Yuzu Shu (青短の柚子酒; $61) from Nara prefecture lingers on your palate with a soft tanginess. Made by hand-squeezing yuzu one by one, this is one of Umeshuya’s top sellers.
