A Nasi Kandar affair

If you enjoy steamed rice doused with curries, you should not miss ‘Flavours of Curry & Tradition: A Nasi Kandar Affair’ at Ginger. The restaurant has specially collaborated with Penang’s popular chain Nasi Kandar Jamal Mohamed, which sees ardent fans forming long queues for its robust curries generously ladled onto plates of meat and seafood.

The kambing shank in a rich, spiced gravy (kuah) is available in the buffet spread on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Dig into flavoursome lamb (kambing) shank curry, the signatures of fried chicken with onions (ayam goreng bawang) and beef brisket cooked with dark soya sauce (daging masak kicap), poached okra (bendi), squid curry (kari sotong) and sambal prawn (udang), among other highlights.

Accompany the medley of curries with the aromatic nasi minyak (steamed ghee rice), which we recommend, or nasi biryani or blue pea flower coconut rice.

The exclusive themed buffer offers the daging masak kicap (beef brisket cooked with dark soya sauce) with fall-off-the-bone tenderness. This is one of the signature dishes from Jamal Mohamed in Penang.

Available only for dinner till April 9, these special mamak dishes are part of Ginger’s usual buffet spread (click here for the full menu). For Muslim diners, the nasi kandar inclusion makes for a memorable iftar.

This exclusive themed dinner buffet is priced at $75 per adult from Monday to Thursday; $85 from Friday to Sunday, public holidays and their eves. From now till end March, one dines for free with every three paying adult diners on weekdays.
