Eco Christmas Fiesta Weekends

Civil Service Club Changi
2 Netheravon Road

esides soaking in the sea breeze and taking in the scenic seascape at rustic Changi, beachgoers will have the chance to feel wintry with “snow” falling over their shoulders at 7.30pm and 8.30pm come December 9 to 10 at the Eco Christmas Fiesta Weekends.

Held within the grounds of Civil Service Club Changi, which is a popular recreational haunt for families during the weekends and school holidays, visitors can also get a head start on Christmas shopping by patronising stalls showcasing pouches, T-shirts, totes, notebooks and other merchandises with beautiful artwork created by special needs students from The Art Faculty.

Artful clay insects created by special needs students from The Art Faculty – a gallery and store run by Pathlight’s parent charity, the Autism Resource Centre.

Apart from getting these socially-conscious gifts, shoppers can also look out for eco-friendly products such as stylish clothing created through recycled materials and kitchenware made from rice husks. The health-conscious consumer will be glad to know there are healthful offerings such as Eleones Zakros extra virgin olive oil, moringa powder and baobab fruit powder, as well as horchata that is made in Singapore!

With the parents shopping away for a worthy cause, kids can have a go at making edible terrariums, turning mason jars into glittery candle holders and creating handmade snowman gifts through recycling socks.

The award-winning Eleones Zakros extra virgin olive oil with less than 0.2% acidity is a Health Promotion Board-certified healthier choice.

Near to all these hives of activity, coffee and food aromas wafting from over 20 gourmet booths will certainly be alluring. Foodies will have a field day choosing from kelong-to-table barbecued seafood and traditional local carrot cake made à la minute (with bacon should you fancy), to dengdeng (thinly sliced dried meat in Indonesian cuisine) tacos, pasta and snacks like salted egg fish skin.

So for the socially conscious shoppers wondering if the social and environmental impact of their purchases will eclipse the joy of giving them, the Eco Christmas Fiesta Weekends with its cosy mix of social enterprise-themed stalls and environmentally responsible vendors offers a more socially responsible option for their Christmas gifts.
